Post. Modern. Prototypes.
The generative art process is akin to musical improvisation. In both processes, one will first set the aesthetic boundaries and intention for the work. In music this is often done through choosing a form and an initial tonal center or key; although, form too can can be constructed spontaneously. With generative visual art, the aesthetic parameters are determined by programming and/ or manipulating an algorithm.
It has been my goal for some time to foster a process that would allow for improvising complete musical structures resulting in a spontaneous composition. For me as a composer, this has been very rewarding resulting in a great deal of creative experimentation and output.
Ultimately, ten of these generative visual pieces will be chosen and paired with a spontaneous musical composition.
